Cherish your growing child, Trust me , one moment, your child is a baby, and the next, they are navigating through childhood on their own steam. As moms, all we want to do is slow down for a minute, hug our little ones close and cherish these precious moments once gone forever. After all, parenthood flies by faster than any other stage in life! How can we make the most of this fleeting time with our growing children? The answer lies in being intentional about how you approach each moment from day to day: taking meaningful pauses while guiding them forward with an encouraging tone that captures nostalgia too.
I took my 8-year-old shoe shopping and realized in 3 months; he had grown two sizes up! That was alarming. Paw Patrol is a thing of the past, and now, he is in love with Pokemon characters and Beyblade action figures. Where does the time go? I speak from experience when I tell you to cherish your growing child as there is no rewind button to the cute onesies.
It’s good that he’s got a few more years of growth ahead of him, but I don’t know how much more I can handle watching him grow up so quickly. Every stage of childhood is so special and unique, and I cherish every moment with my little guy. Even though it means more trips to the mall every other month. I’m happy that he’s growing up healthy and strong.
But I know that the years are fleeting, and soon he won’t be my little boy anymore. So how can I make the most of these precious years before he’s a teen? It’s hard to slow down time, but here are some ways you can enjoy the ages and stages of your growing child.
First, create meaningful memories together. Take regular family trips, staycations or even just a day in the park. Get your cameras ready and make sure everyone is dressed for pictures! Have a picnic with all of your favorite foods and take lots of silly photos that you can look back on fondly later on.
Second, be sure to mark important milestones. From learning to ride a bike, to the first time your child reads aloud – these are special moments that you will both cherish forever. Take a moment out of each day to recognize your child’s accomplishments and encourage them as they grow and learn new things.
Third, plan for some one-on-one time with your child. Whether it is taking a walk together, or just sitting down to have a conversation – make sure you are carving out special time just for the two of you. This will give your child an opportunity to express themselves and discuss any problems they may be having.
Finally, don’t forget that children need boundaries and discipline as well. Make sure you are setting the limits and providing structure for your child to follow. This will help them feel secure and safe, knowing that their parents care about them and want the best for them. Surround your child with positive influences and provide them with resources to help them grow and develop into the best version of themselves they can be. By cherishing each moment with your growing child, you can make sure they get the most out of their precious years.
Remember to take it one day at a time, and enjoy each moment!
