I walked into the Skin Clinic for my appointment.
Right after entry into the booth, the equipment is switched on.
Immediately, an automated voice comes on,
“Your session will begin in 10 seconds,
“Please put on your goggles.”
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
“Your primary treatment is complete.”
It’s a dose of UV light therapy directly on the skin. It is usually done three times a week, for a minimum of eight to twelve weeks before results can be seen. I have to spend one to three minutes in the booth for results that are unrivalled according to scientists. While the number of required appointments may seem time-consuming, it is one of the most effective treatments for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), other depressions, dementia, jet lag, sleep disorders, and dermatitis.
With the start of a new month, especially the February, which was filled with an evolving rollercoaster of complications. “Mental Self-care” is a new mantra that is here to stay. Everyone begins a new month optimistic with resolutions such as do more, be more, lose a couple of pounds, learn more, practise more, or even make more money. Elaborately drawn-up plans are in the works and the first week is in full swing. Anxiety and Depression are partners in crime for many others who are struggling to latch on to a semblance of productivity in a time of revitalizing energy.
While it would be nice to have a day off, go in for a spa treatment, a massage, take a calming long walk or mediate into serenity to start the month right, for most individuals with a busy schedule, this is somewhat impossible. My mental self-care tip for the new month would be to take small steps daily. After all, the ocean is made up of little drops of water. Therefore take a deep breath, close your eyes and shut out the day. Let time stop in your mind and try to focus on yourself for a few minutes daily. When the feeling of uncertainty or stress envelops you, pause and be mindful of every breath.
One to three minutes a day might help reset your mind/thoughts. Perfection isn’t the goal, anything small you can improve on daily should be the target. This means that every day is a great chance to make a difference, and simply focusing on yourself for a few minutes each day in the month of March is a great starting point.
Happy New Month.🌻
